I recently watched a youtube clip of Britian's got Talent. For those of you who don't know its a reality show with 3 judges that evaluate's talent in Britian. Now one of the judges is female who is an actress whom I found to be quite attractive and her name is Amanda Holden.

Recently they added a new female model judge to the panel named Kelly Brook and I think that woman is absoultly stunning.

Now due to me finding Kelly more attractive, Amanda now seems rather plain and a bit older then before (she is older then kelly however it was not factored as a problem until Kelly showed up). So my question is do you believe that competition among women therefore diminishes their hotness in some women as a result while elevating their hotness when they are by themselves with no competition?! Are we therefore being fooled all the time when we attempt to evaluate a woman's actual good looks due to our biological urges and the nature of her current surrondings?!

Girls complain about guys watching porn for the same reason - after the guy sees the naked HB10s, the attraction he feels for his girl diminishes.

Guys complain about girls reading gossip mags for the same reason. Once a girl reads about all the luxury the rich and famous are living in, she then all of a sudden becomes displeased with her current material living standards and thus her man.

Well this is exactly it, when hot women are abundant in one location, you have the luxury of eliminating the lesser hot ones and dismissing them. However if one of the lesser hot one's was in an area where no hot women are around then she would have captured my attention.

Yeah I tried to put it into words what I was thinking about and it was a bit more complicated to explain.

I was thinking of all the situations I was in that I may have dismissed the lesser hot friend of a really hot girl because she had become less desired to me as a result. The problem is that the lesser hot friend would have grabbed my attention if her hotter friend wasn't there. As well as the lesser hot friend is often pushed to the side because her very hot friend is getting most of the attention from men at that very moment and therefore the lesser hot friend would be very receptive to steal some of that attention away from her hotter friend and make it easier to hook up with. Now we aren't talking about the average or fugly girls but good looking women. Here is another example:

Naturally Jessica Alba is taking away most of my attention from the other women however if Alba wasn't there then it makes me realise how good looking the other women are as well.

I suppose the same thing work with girls when they seek men in a club. That's why you are sometimes in greater advantage if you approach a woman in places not only in a club but other venues/places outside of a club where women aren't used to getting guys approaching them on a constant basis.

From a pure 'physical' standpoint alone, yes.

But then again, it's how each man perceives a certain body type being 'hot' or not.

For example, if the younger woman had features that, while not ugly, weren't still quite as defined and the older, for me the older would still win all.

Now, if both are equal and one is younger we tend to evaluate her based on her youthfulness b/c it's what we desire on many levels due to numerous issues we have in our own minds. I think it goes beyond biology.

Actually, DJDamage this is true I think the attraction is based on the comparative talent around. This must be hard wired into us. You can bet in caveman days the HBs were not that hot and probably smelled pretty bad but we still found them attractive enough to go to the back of the cave with. Then again we were probably not that attractive either, except on a comparative basis.

The best example of this is where you have been working in the country and the hottest girl in town suddenly becomes a lot less attractive when you take her to the city.

Another thing I find interesting is how a girl you think is hot at some time, can be seen as not that hot later. It’s a kind of shifting sands of attraction. Maybe this is hotwired also as it may maximise the chance of prolonging the human race. Grass is greener on the other side and all that.

It is a thought that I have had that all the relationship problems and break-ups etc may actually increase and not reduce the chance of survival for the species, otherwise why aren't we hotwired more like penguins and all the SS posts more like, "My mate got eaten by a seal what should I do?"

Chaos theory applied to relationships may actually maximise the development of the species through maximising the genetic mix. In which case SS should be more like,"Help, my HB ran off with a bad boy, what should I do?" "Yes of course that's natures way, what's your problem? Become a bad boy and have babies with another HB son you've got to get those genes spread around a bit." "Stable relationships are for horses!"

Of course nature has not quite beaten the pill or other options yet, but you can bet she will be trying.

Here is nature’s thought: OK I need to maximise genetic distribution and mix, great idea.... make a man use rational thought, and a woman use emotions for decision making, and that ought to pretty well stuff every relationship after a while and create a really good mix.
