I have a transportation issue with getting to and from my boxing gym. The gym is in a bad neighborhood which is the main issue. I drive a nice car and that is one things im worried about. I know since i will be regularly attending that gym i can't leave my car there since i know eventually it will get targeted. Although i have no problem taking care of myself i also grew up in these area's to know how things work. Even if i regular do find a decent spot to park my car, walking to and from my car will also make me a target since i drive the car.

My other options are having someone pick me up and drop me off, which will be a MAJOR hassle and is not likely going to happen or to take public transportation. But even late at night that is also a problem. I'm leaning more towards the bus it will probably be a pain.

If boxing is anything like mma, most guys at the gym will be young and poor. If you can make a couple friends, offer to give them gas money in exchange for a ride. They get free gas, and you get a ride.

Or you could buy a beater of a vehicle. I have a $500 truck that comes in handy a lot. The door locks broke years ago, but no one would ever want to steal it or anything in it, so I don't really have to lock the doors. You would save putting the miles on your nice car and be able to park anywhere.

If the lot really is that dangerous, the gym should put a full-time security guard in it, but I can see them balking at the expense. It seems that it would take some dumb criminals to pick on boxers, but there are a lot of stupid criminals.

Beater car is out of the picture as well since i don't have enough money to afford a car and the insurance since it is still expensive.

The area is bad and being a native of philadelphia i can tell. By bad i don't mean 24/7 something is happening it just one of those area's where it's too unpredictable. There could be 3 guys walking down the street all in hoody's with no problem but at the same time those 3 guys could be walking down the street to rob you. This is one of the very few area's i've been in where all i see are beater cars.
