I was on a business trip this past weekend on the west coast and happen to be fortune enough to have a job where business trips are something that I look forward to and count down the days until. There's usually a lot of partying and me and the rest of my co-workers usually get a pretty good chance to bond. A lot of relationships and friendships form and everyone gets a chance to get to know each other.
Anyway, there's a woman I work with who stood out to me a lot this weekend. And when I say woman, I mean woman. She is probably four or five years older than me. I know for a fact she graduated college in 2001, so that would probably put her around 29 or 30 - about four or five years my elder.
But she doesn't look at all like she is in her late 20s or early 30s. She looks closer to my age, or maybe even younger than me. She runs triathlons and seems to take care of herself well. Her neck also hasn't wrinkled like most women who are in her age group (I think you know the appearance I'm trying to describe). She also doesn't have any lines on her face or anything like that. She is the kind of chic who is going to stay hot until she is 35 or 36 - kind of like Eva Longoria or Jennifer Aniston.
She is extremely nice and even puts up with all the other guys who we work with when they shamelessly hit on her at all times. Because of them, my approach with her is just to be friendly and say hello, but to never engage in a conversation that could be misconstrued as me picking up on her. The only exception was when she first started working with me about eight months ago. I thought she was my age, so naturally I was very outgoing with her. I had about a 20-minute conversation with her when she first got the job, but I kind of got the sense that I might have came on too strong. She was receptive to me, but I decided it was best to back off and let the frame between her and I reset. From that point on, I was friendly with her and said hello, but I never engaged in an in-depth convo with her. When I learned of her true age, I also kind of decided she was too much older than me to ever be attracted to me.
Though, I'm thinking that's not the case anymore after our business trip. This weekend was the first time I had ever really spent an extended amount of time around her, and this kind of put me in situation where I had to break my rules with her. I didn't hit on her, but I small talked with her and we talked for a while in some instances.
To my surprise this weekend, I kind of got the sense she might be attracted to me. When I was in a conversation with her and a group of people that involved her, she would always touch on my hand. She laughed at my jokes and when I saw her in the hotel lobby in passing or some place like that, she would touch my arm and ask me how I was doing. She never tossed her hair during a conversation (do girls her age even do that?), but I still got the impression she was attracted to me. She is normally very nice and touchy-feely with everyone, but for some reason I just felt like she was giving me the vibe.
I'm now wondering, what kind of protocol should I follow in gaming her? I've never dated a girl younger than 23, and I have no idea what a woman of her age might be expecting. Do the same rules still apply, or do women her age need to be dealt with differently?
I also wanted to know some of you guys' opinions on what you'd do if you were in your early to mid 20s and were thinking about gaming a woman who was in her late 20s/early 30s. If you want to see a picture of her to see exactly what I am dealing with, PM me and I can show you one.
