Epic
Senior Don Juan
A few nights ago, I was hanging out at a friend's house. He was throwing a party that night and every one was drinking. Now, I don't drink but I think it's fun to be around people who do, it's very entertaining. Anyway, I've been friends with this guy since high school and the whole time I've known him it's always seemed as if nothing effects him. I know that he's been in some bad situations but he's always seemed to just dust his shoulders off and keep moving. He's not one to talk much about serious things, but he was starting to get a little tipsy and open so I figured I'd interview him a little bit. I asked him what his secret was to always be able to move through life with no problems. This is what he said:
Man, it's not that I don't have problems, but I see them for what they are. Things change constantly, it's a fact of life. Sometimes it's a good change, sometimes it's for the worse. Either way you may not be happy with it. It doesn't matter though because you don't have control over a lot of things that can happen to you, they are unavoidable. Pay attention to what you can change and what you can't. However, the only thing that you can always control is yourself. It's up to you whether a situation gets you down or not. When you really think about it you can't let things get you down because if you do you'll just be down more than you are up. You have to do what it takes for you to be happy because at the end of your life, when you're on your deathbed, you're going to think about what you made the most of, regrets or good memories. It's all a state of mind, you've got to be a glass half-full kind of person. If you find a job that makes you happy stick with it, but if you want more money get a better job, whatever it is you want more. If you're relationship is falling apart or you've gotten dumped, chances are it would have happened eventually anyway, so it's a chance for you to get on the right track. You have to look at failures as opportunities to try again. If you do this man, nothing can touch you. I mean NOTHING. Anyway, the biggest point I'm trying to make is that you have to enjoy the ride before it ends and don't take everything so seriously. You'll be surprised how much better things will be.
