After reading through some of these approach techniques, I was remembering a night a few years back that kind of stuck out in the "weird" category, and now that I think about it, kind of sounded like he was reading some material here.
I was at a bar/club with a big group, I think we had 4 guys and 4 girls with us. We were all sitting at a big booth chilling and having a drink, when random solo guy comes over and introduces himself. It's not too often a random solo guy comes and tries to hang with us. It didn't look like he was there with anyone, which was a little weird to us. Anyway, he had a sketch pad and was showing some of his art to the girls, who were trying to give him signals to go away. Then he started talking to us for a little, we were giving him sarcastic remarks, telling him that one of the girls was single (she wasn't), and gave a bunch of fake names. He asked if he could draw her and started doing a sketch right there on the table. The whole time we were kind of giving each other the eye, like "when is this guy going to leave?" After what seemed like a half an hour, he asked for the girl's phone number, and she gave him her roommate's #! That was hillarious. I think he asked for a kiss and she said she didn't kiss guys she just met.
He wasn't pulling off the ****y/funny approach, it almost came off that he just liked art. He was obviously into the girl, but it was a horrible failure. I feel bad if that's an approach anyone here has used, it was so weird that I remember it even years later.
