I did some jiujitsu earlier in the evening, came back home for a bit then went to the gym to lift weight. I'm now starving. I don't like eating before I do MMA or workout because having food in my stomach then exerting myself makes me nauteous.
So now it's midnight, I'm getting ready for bed, but have a growling stomach. What kinds of things are okay to eat right now? I have some skinless chicken breast in the fridge, was thinking of steaming or boiling some vegetables and making a baked potato(in the microwave of course) and calling it a night.
Is this bad?

Cottage cheese is something that is recomended around here as a late night snack for the caesin protein it contains. I know it tastes bad but really its not THAT hard to eat and it is very healthy.
Also Almonds are pretty good but don't have too many as nuts are very calorie dense foods but they are also very filling so you can get the stomach growl out with just a handful.

You want a blend of protein and fats before bedtime. Try not to touch carbs, they're the things that keep you awake and also put jelly in the belly when eaten before bed.
Cheese is great before bed, milk is good, a protein shake is great.
What I do personally sometimes is cut off a big slab of cheddar cheese and gnaw on it for awhile.

My mate introduced me to the wonderful world of ramen noodles in a cup. Just boil water and pour it in with the given seasoning and you're right to go after 2 minutes.

noodles = carbs = bad
Sure they're an awesome snack at night, but if you're into fitness at all, you would know that you're not going to keep your body fat % down by eating noodles at midnight.

Well, for a quick meal, maybe, but have you read the label on a cup of those things? Not the best thing to be eating all the time.
As noted earlier, cottage cheese, some milk with protein, almonds, PB, etc etc. And again, a few carbs aren't going to hurt. Just dont over do it.
This is why I always have 2 tubs of protein supps around: one for postworkout (whey), the other for prebed (casein).
Cottage cheese
steak
eggs
veggies

I usually have the same dilemma as I always get hungry late at night. My current options tend to be:
Chicken fillet - either with gravy and veg, seasoned with cajun spice and grilled, or broken up and mixed with salad and a teaspoon of (low fat) mayonaise.
Tuna - sometimes with salad and low fat mayo.
Egg white omelette with mushrooms and ham.
Steak or beef - on it's own.
It gets boring, but they suffice.

im getting a little more used to the cottage cheese, but what do you guys eat it with?
as for milk, isnt milk mostly carbs? lactose high, at least?
and im guessing oatmeal is a bad choice at night then eh...

I mix strawberries, but mixing strawberries and cottage cheese does not make for a good pre-bed snack.
I eat my cottage cheese PLAIN, with a pinch of pepper. It doesn't bother me one bit, nor does most everything else I eat. I pretty much eat it all.

How long before bed? I usually end going to bed around midnight or 1 am, so when should I cut off the carbs (or limit them to a very small amount)?

I do half scoop egg white powder, half whey, and a full scoop of caseine. ~50g protein total.
I drink maybe 90% of it because i nearly always wake up and have to pee at some point in night and i finish it in a couple seconds before i get back in bed. I figure it gives me another small burst of anabolism from the egg and whey since by the time i wake up all that's left me still is the caseine.
I wouldn't take cottage cheese before bed because of the sugar.

Ah, I remember that. Thanks lol. I don't eat dairy anymore though (or at least for right now).
I just eat some Cheerios with soy milk if I get hungry at night.

I had some PB, whey and a few carbs. Carbs have never hurt me before, and they'll get burned first before my body digs into my protein/fat stores. Plus my protein was good for the day, and I never OVER do protein. I'm at about 1.5g/lb and that's good enough for me.
I used to do that, where I would have something before bed, or ready to go, and when I woke up i'd chug it down and go back to bed. In fact I may start doing that again, if my gains aren't coming like i'd like.
I personally sleep 8hrs+, so I need all the fuel I can get so I stay in a anabolic state, since I dont get up now to slam anything down.

I ALWAYS have a dozen hard-boiled eggs chillin' in the fridge for just such occasions.
Peel and eat: easy.
Also, there's ALWAYS a "bunch" of celery around.
Celery and eggs... miracles.
