Dude Tony Robbins is freakin awesome. I recently bought his book Unlimited Power and most of his concepts are spot on. He talks about how we as people have 6 needs in life. They are:

1.) Certainty- knowing what will happen

2.) Uncertainty- Surprises, problems or life will be boring as hell.

3.) Critical Significance- the need to feel important, thats why people wears tattoos, get boob jobs and want to become famous.

4.) Love and connection.

He said those 4 needs are the needs of the personality. The last two are the need of the spirit- which are the keys to fulfillment.

5.) Growth- You can have a million bucks and a lot of babes but if you feel you are not growing and evolving as a human being, then you will feel empty inside.

6.) Contributing to something beyond ourselves - I guess this is why religion founded happiness for many people, they learned to give.

I've already seen that video. I think Robbins' is good, but I feel like the couple were more motivated to change already, and Tony just spurned them on a little more. They were ready for change.
I'm glad it worked out for them.
OK, now, you mention in Number 3. that people want to "feel important", and that's why they get "Tatoos, boob jobs,etc".
But yet you say that this facet of personality is "Spiritual"?

I believe that the inherent, and underlying need is Spiritual, but your example are actually misguided attempts at knowing and realizing Self.
These are uneducated attempts to "build" something, or make something from the Inside, STAND OUT.

That's why it's important to realize that our true purpose in Life is to Self Realize and experience those things we desire.
Be it good or bad for us.
At some point, we will look only for the Positive experiences and that's when we really start to live happily fulfilled.

He's a great motivator there's no doubt about it.

I'm a Tony Robbins fan too - I have "Awaken the Giant Within" (the book).

Well, the guy's obviously not thinking clearly, because you can't collect life insurance from a suicide -- unless you fake an accident really well, I guess.
