I've been thinking about buying hair clippers and cutting my own hair instead of wasting money at the barbershop. I like keeping it low like 1.5 all around. Do you know whats a good brand of clippers to buy and is there anything else I should know? Thanks.

I use Wahl clippers. I'm on my second set in about 7 years. they last awhile. The first set I dropped and never was able to get it to work right again. It would work but made a terribly loud grinding noise .

Yeah I use Wahl too. I have straight white dude hair and I've cut it enough so that I know all the good spots to leave. I've gotten many compliments on my hair (i have a faux-hawk) and I havent had to pay for a haircut in years so I definitely invested wisely. My advice...DO NOT start with a very low clipper setting. Take off very little at a time, otherwise you will end up with stupid hair. Just make very minor adjustments until all is good.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

I usually trim parts of it after the hairstylists' cut my hair since they don't know what they're doing.

Really the brand of clipper is not of important. What trully matter is your skills to properly cut your own hair. Besides the clipper, you'd also need another mirrow to be able to check the back of your head. I have not been to a barbarshop since '99. (over 8 yrs.). Lets see how much I have saved during these year:
15$ per cut
at least 2 X cut per month or once a fortnight.
52 weeks = 1 year. --> 26 times per year.
26 * 8 = 208 times
208*15 = $ 3120 dollars so far. Plus few dollars saved on gas for trip to barbarshop.

Ive tried but it came out very bad, was long on one side and short on other, hung down like I ws emo kinda. Ill never try that again. Luckily I got it shaved off the same day.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I know a couple of guys at work who cut their own hair. I also know a couple that has their wife do it. In all cases, their hair looks like s***.

If money is tight, i understand cause we've all been there (or most of us). But if its not, I recommend a professional for the best cut. When i think of how to be the best DJ - Flowbee sure as hell doesn't come to mind.

I keep mine really short. If thats the kinda of look your going for then doing it yourself isn't to big of a problem. You could even ask a girl to do it. those clippers are fun

I cut my own hair. Everyone thinks I go to a Barber. I got white people hair. I cut it real short. I've been doing it since I was like 15 though (so around 8 years now). I went to a Barber once and they messed it up, so I just started cutting it myself. Now I cut my own, and some friends/family when they need it. It's not too hard. And the way you do the back of your head is to stand with your back to a mirror and hold another small mirror in front of you. Then you can see the back of your head. It takes some practice sure, and you'll probably mess up the first few times, but once you get the hang of it, it's just so much more convenient. I couldn't care less what they charge at a shop, but it's just so much easier doing it myself.

But speaking of the money aspect of this, I sure as hell wish my wife would learn how to cut her hair. Can you say $45-90 bucks a pop every time she goes? (depending on what she gets that time).
