How many body parts per week

I like to concentrate on one body part per workout, and usually I work most of my muscels once a week and a muscel twice a week. However, I recently heard that if im going for size, I have to work out each body part more than once a week. That would mean that I would have to work out more than 4-5 times a week which I don't like to do, or workout two body parts per workout which I don't like to do.

Any advice?

All, you fool!

Do a 3 day split, it's pretty effective for most.

sorry, bad title. I meant how many times should i workout each body part per week? If more than once, should I work out more than 4 times a week and/or workout 2 muscel groups per workout.

In 7 days, you mean? Work each major muslce group twice, that sound about right.
If you mean sessions in 7 days, then 4 sounds about right with a 3 day split. And yeah, 2 muscle groups I suppose per workout.

Hmmm i had that A-Unit post stickied for a reason. Did you read that post man? Seems like a lot of people are missing the concept here. To grow you get your big lifts up. No need for this one muscle a day bs. Get into a Push/pull/legs routine.


If you want to do a 3day split a good set up is this

Monday- Squat

Wed- Bench

Fri- Deadlift

I do each body part once a week. I worked out my shoulders last thursday and they are still hurting. I do chest, legs, arms (bi's, tri's, forarms), shoulders (+traps), and back monday-friday. I take weekends off. I wish I could cite this source, but I know in a study on men and women, on average after a forarm workout, swelling went down around day 4-6 but the muscle hadn't fully recovered until 9 days after it was worked out. I say once a week is just fine as long as you train intense.

If you look at DIESEL's bulking post he suggests the max sets per bodypart per week. Train as many times a week as you want but just try not to go over the maximum values.
